this morning asher and i took kade to romp 'n roll for baby gym class. so cute. the babies sat in a circle, were greeted by their teacher and a stuffed dog and then had story time. well, im not too sure how i felt about story time. you see, they used a touchy feeley (is that even a word??) type book and after each page she would pass the book around and let each baby feel...
i dont know about all those other babies, but kade did not like having to give the book up after his turn...it was kind of stressful for me to have to contain a borderline tantrum every time i had to take the book that he seemed to be enjoying so much. ehhhhh.
some sign language and bubbles were thrown into the mix and next was gym time...
gym time was fun. they got about 5 or 10 minutes give or take of free time and then the parents did structured movement activities with the babes and teacher, ex: put your baby on this rolley tube thing and bounce them while you sing. i liked that rolley tube thing, the babies liked the rolley tube thing, but after what seemed like maybe 3 or 4 minutes it was time to move.
next activity!!
flashlights and bubbles...
we were given little flashlights and the overhead lights were dimmed. at that point we were having the babies follow and play with the lights we (the parents) were flickering all over the room. (can someone tell me when my kid turned into a cat??) seriously, all joking aside the flashlights were very captivating to those bundles of joy and so were the bubbles falling gracefully from the bubble machine that was running. during that time we also did a baby yoga move or two and played with a parachute (parachute time was loved by all and i felt was short lived as well).
when class was over it was back to the original circle and the stuffed dog and teacher said goodbye to all the little ones...presh.
during this baby gym adventure i chatted with another nice mom and also got to enjoy spending time with a friend of mine and her little boy...all in all, a good time...but worth it??
600 something dollars later (we are totally on a payment plan) my son is a proud member of the romp n' roll gym and gets to go and play any day of the week we want during "open gym", aka bring your kids to blow of some steam for an hour or so, and he gets to go to one actual class a week. oh, did i forget to mention the b-day party discount?? we get that too...2nd birthday is planned before the 1st one even gets here...rock on. i really plan on getting my moneys worth (or my husbands moneys worth) out of this membership. even though i feel like it was a little rushed and maybe a little too much was crammed into a 45min time span...the smile on his face...the other babies having fun...the learning experience hes gonna get from it...yeah, im pretty sure it will be money worth spending.
ahhh..ashley blogging? this is gonna be good!! i was thinking of registering jackson for a baby gym class, but thought he might be too young. buttt after your review, i just might go with it even though kade is a bit older than jackson. may i ask how the payment plan works there??
